The DiPasquale’s sign, which had been hanging outside FORNO, the restaurant’s newest concept, vanished around 4:45 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, according to an Instagram post from the family-owned business.
"From the videos we watched, it seemed planned," the post read.
The restaurant, which has been serving Baltimore since 1914, asked residents on Gough Street to check their cameras for any footage that might help track down the culprit.
According to CBS, the sign has been a fixture for nearly 40 years.
Then, in a surprise twist, the restaurant posted an update Friday, Feb. 28, revealing the sign had been returned.
"We are so grateful for everyone who helped," they wrote, without offering details on who returned it or how.
The mystery of the vanishing and reappearing sign remains unsolved, but for now, DiPasquale’s can breathe a sigh of relief.
